8-Day/7-Night Camping Safari
This 8-day camping safari is an extended journey through Tanzania’s most celebrated wildlife destinations. Explore the stunning landscapes, diverse wildlife, and rich cultural heritage of Lake Manyara, Ngorongoro Crater, Tarangire, Serengeti, Lake Victoria, Olduvai Gorge, Lake Natron, and a Maasai Village. You will experience the best of the country’s wildlife, from the Big Five to the Great Migration, and learn about local tribes and their way of life, all while camping under the stars in the African wilderness.
Day 1: Arrival in Arusha & Drive to Lake Manyara
Arrive in Arusha and meet your guide. After a brief introduction, drive to Lake Manyara National Park, famous for its lush environment and diverse wildlife. You will enjoy a full-day game drive, spotting giraffes, zebras, buffaloes, baboons, and possibly the famous tree-climbing lions. During the right season, flamingos can be seen around the lake. After a rewarding day, settle into your campsite for a relaxing dinner under the stars.
Day 2: Lake Manyara to Ngorongoro Crater
After breakfast, travel to the Ngorongoro Crater. Known as the “Eighth Wonder of the World,” this UNESCO World Heritage site is a natural haven for wildlife. Spend 5 hours on the crater floor, where you can see elephants, rhinos, lions, cheetahs, hippos, and more. Stop for a picnic lunch at the Hippo Pool and continue your exploration. In the late afternoon, head to your campsite for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3: Ngorongoro Crater to Tarangire National Park
After breakfast, drive to Tarangire National Park, known for its massive elephant herds and striking baobab trees. Spend the day on a game drive, spotting lions, giraffes, leopards, and a variety of bird species. Tarangire’s diverse habitats offer excellent opportunities for wildlife viewing. After a picnic lunch in the park, continue your afternoon game drive. In the evening, return to camp for a peaceful dinner.
Day 4: Tarangire to Serengeti National Park
On Day 4, depart early for Serengeti National Park, one of the most famous safari destinations in the world. Serengeti’s vast plains provide a home for a wide array of animals, including the Big Five. Depending on the season, you may also witness the incredible Great Migration. Spend the day on a thrilling game drive, stopping for a picnic lunch in the park. In the evening, set up camp in the heart of Serengeti and enjoy dinner around the campfire.
Day 5: Full-Day Serengeti Game Drive
Today, you’ll enjoy a full day of game drives in the Serengeti. Explore different areas of the park to spot lions, cheetahs, elephants, leopards, and wildebeests. The Serengeti offers some of the best wildlife viewing in the world, and today you’ll have ample time to observe it all. Enjoy a picnic lunch in the park, then continue your exploration. In the evening, return to your camp for a relaxing dinner.
Day 6: Serengeti to Lake Victoria
After breakfast, travel to Lake Victoria, Africa’s largest lake. Enjoy the serene beauty of the lake and learn about the local culture and fishing communities around it. Spend the day exploring the lakeshore, taking a boat ride, or visiting a nearby fishing village. This is a perfect opportunity to experience the more tranquil side of Tanzania, away from the wildlife-filled parks. Enjoy a picnic lunch, followed by an afternoon of relaxation. Camp near the lake and enjoy a peaceful evening.
Day 7: Lake Victoria to Olduvai Gorge & Lake Natron
On Day 7, visit the world-renowned Olduvai Gorge, often referred to as the “Cradle of Mankind,” where some of the earliest human fossils were found. Explore the archaeological site and learn about the history of human evolution. Afterward, travel to Lake Natron, an alkaline lake that offers stunning views and is home to flamingos. Spend the afternoon exploring the lake and its surrounding area. Set up camp near Lake Natron and enjoy dinner under the stars.
Day 8: Maasai Village Visit & Return to Arusha
On your final day, you will visit a Maasai Village, where you will get an insight into the Maasai culture and traditions. Learn about their way of life, including their customs, food, and daily activities. After the visit, drive back to Arusha, where you will arrive in the late afternoon. Your safari ends with a drop-off at your preferred location, concluding your incredible 8-day adventure.
