Experience the magic of the African wilderness with game drives, cultural visits, and nights spent camping under the stars. This extended safari provides a perfect blend of wildlife exploration, natural beauty, and cultural enrichment.
Day 1: Lake Manyara National Park
Your safari begins with a morning departure from Arusha to Lake Manyara National Park. Known for its lush vegetation, the park offers a variety of landscapes, including forests, grasslands, and alkaline lakes. Enjoy a full-day game drive, where you’ll have the chance to see giraffes, zebras, impalas, baboons, and the park’s famous tree-climbing lions. If visiting during the right season, flamingos lining the shores of the lake create a spectacular sight. After a picnic lunch, continue your exploration and return to your campsite for dinner under the stars.
Day 2: Ngorongoro Crater
After breakfast, head to the Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage site. This large volcanic caldera is one of the world’s most fertile wildlife habitats. On a 5-hour game drive, you’ll see elephants, lions, rhinos, buffaloes, and hippos. Enjoy a picnic lunch at the scenic Hippo Pool before continuing your drive around the crater floor. In the late afternoon, return to your campsite for dinner and an evening of relaxation.
Day 3: Tarangire National Park
On Day 3, after breakfast, travel to Tarangire National Park, renowned for its giant baobab trees and large elephant herds. Spend the day exploring the park, which is home to lions, giraffes, leopards, cheetahs, and a variety of bird species. With its rich diversity of habitats, including river valleys, savannah, and woodland, Tarangire offers excellent game viewing. After a picnic lunch in the park, continue the afternoon game drive. In the evening, set up camp near the park and enjoy dinner under the African sky.
Day 4: Serengeti National Park
On Day 4, wake up early for a full day in Serengeti National Park, one of the most famous wildlife destinations in the world. Serengeti’s expansive plains are home to the Big Five and countless other animals, including wildebeest, zebras, cheetahs, and lions. Depending on the time of year, you may witness the breathtaking Great Migration. Enjoy a picnic lunch in the park, then continue your game drive. After a full day of exploration, set up camp in the heart of the Serengeti and enjoy dinner under the stars.
Day 5: Lake Victoria
After breakfast, head to Lake Victoria, Africa’s largest freshwater lake. Spend the day relaxing by the lake, exploring the local surroundings, and experiencing the culture of the people living by the shore. You can take a boat ride to enjoy the peaceful environment or visit a local fishing village to learn about the region’s way of life. After a picnic lunch by the lake, return to your campsite for a relaxing evening and dinner.
Day 6: Olduvai Gorge & Lake Natron
On Day 6, visit the world-famous Olduvai Gorge, known as the “Cradle of Mankind.” This UNESCO World Heritage site is where some of the earliest human fossils were discovered. Explore the archaeological site and learn about the history of human evolution. Afterward, travel to Lake Natron, a stunning alkaline lake surrounded by dramatic landscapes and home to flamingos and other birdlife. Spend the afternoon exploring the lake’s surreal environment. In the evening, enjoy a dinner at your campsite under the stars.
